iPhone 4S. Price in the US, $199, price in Australia $799. The dollars
exchange at virtual parity.

Aha! That figures. I wonder how we get Telstra to do the same?! I
suppose it's in the deals the carriers sell you.

The unlocked price for the 16GB model is US$649. Add GST, that's
US$714, which is about as close to parity as you'll ever get from Apple
AU (+12%).

Having said that, the higher-capacity models have better "exchange
rates" (+9% and +7%).

(Note the US price above does not include the local state's sales tax.)

that price is for phones on a contract. You can get similar deals here
from OPtus and Telstra
